COLOR MELTING/OMBRE HIGHLIGHTING

The latest craze that you're seeing everywhere is called the "Ombre" hair color, or as others call it, "color melting." Hollywood is LOVING this look right now. Celebrities like Whitney Port, Drew Barrymore, Rachel Bilson and Jessica Biel have been seen wearing this color technique recently.

The look consists of a darker base color, that eventually fades down lighter thru the ends. I'm totally in favor of this look because it's SO LOW MAINTENANCE!! It eliminates the need come in and get those roots touched up every four weeks. If done correctly, it can look very soft and natural, as most of the lighter highlighted pieces are placed right where the sun would hit. I'm a fan of the subtle color melting... staying within 2-3 shades of the top base color, although if you want an edgier look, you can definitely contrast the darkest to lightest color as much as you want.

I got a chance to do this twice this week. Once on Sarah who stayed within the brunette shades, and once on Marisa who kept hers a little bit lighter.

I've had a couple of people encouraging me lately to start a blog to showcase different before and after pictures I've done at the salon... current trends... inspirations... etc. I usually don't stay consistent with this kind of thing but I'm going to give it a try! I figured what better time to start one than at 1am the night before a busy day at the salon ;)
